How to Hide, Lock and Rename Your IPTV Categories
Most IPTV playlists arrive with hundreds of categories, many of them in another language, duplicated, or full of things you will never watch. Lit IPTV lets you clean that up without touching your provider: hide the categories you do not want, lock the ones that should not be on the family TV behind a PIN, and rename anything with a name only your provider understands. Best of all, those changes follow your account, so tidying up on your phone also tidies up your television. Lit IPTV is a media player only. It does not include, host, or sell channels or subscriptions, and none of these controls change anything on your provider's side.
Hide the categories you never watch
In Live TV, Movies, or TV Shows, move to the category strip and long-press the category you want gone. On a TV remote that means holding the OK or centre button on the category; on a phone or tablet it is a long press with your finger. Choose Hide category and it disappears from the strip immediately. Hiding is free and completely reversible: nothing is deleted, and your provider's playlist is untouched. This is the fastest way to turn a wall of two hundred groups into the handful you actually use.
Getting hidden categories back
Because a hidden category is no longer on screen, you unhide it from the same menu. Long-press any visible category, choose Show hidden categories, and everything you have hidden reappears, marked so you can tell it apart from the rest. Long-press one of those and choose Unhide category to restore it permanently, then toggle Show hidden categories off again when you are done. The reveal is temporary and resets when you restart the app, so a tidy layout stays tidy.
Lock adult or unwanted categories behind a PIN
Hiding keeps a category out of sight, but anyone who knows about the reveal toggle can bring it back. To genuinely restrict something, long-press it and choose Lock with PIN. The first time you do this Lit IPTV asks you to set a four-digit PIN, and from then on a locked category shows a padlock and asks for that PIN before it will open. Once you enter the PIN correctly, that category stays unlocked for the rest of the session and locks itself again the next time the app starts. Locking is a Pro feature.
Rename categories your provider named badly
Provider category names are often a mess of prefixes, country codes, and abbreviations. Long-press a category, choose Rename category, and type whatever makes sense to you. The new name is purely cosmetic and lives on your account: your provider's playlist is never modified, and clearing the field resets the category back to its original name. Renaming is a Pro feature.
Your changes follow you to every device
This is the part people miss. Hiding, locking, and renaming are stored against your Lit IPTV account rather than the device you are holding, so a category you hide on your phone is hidden on your Android TV, Fire TV, and Apple TV as well, and a PIN you set in one place applies everywhere. Sign in with the same account on each device and the layout you built once is the layout you get everywhere. If a change does not appear immediately on another device, reopen that tab to trigger a fresh sync.
A sensible setup for a family television
A practical routine is to hide the bulk first, then lock the few that matter. Start on whichever device is easiest to type on, hide every category you never open, and rename the handful you keep so they read clearly from the sofa. Then set your PIN and lock anything you do not want reachable from the living room. By the time you sit down at the television, the strip is short, readable, and safe to hand to anyone, and you did not have to ask your provider for a different playlist.
FAQ
Frequently asked questions
Does hiding a category delete anything?
No. Hiding only affects how Lit IPTV displays your playlist on your own account. Nothing is deleted, your provider's playlist is not modified, and you can unhide any category at any time from the same long-press menu.
How do I unhide a category I hid by mistake?
Long-press any category, choose Show hidden categories, then long-press the one you want back and choose Unhide category. Toggle Show hidden categories off afterwards to return to your tidy layout.
Do the hidden and locked categories sync between my devices?
Yes. Hiding, locking, renaming, and your PIN are saved to your Lit IPTV account, so they apply on your phone, tablet, Android TV, Fire TV, and Apple TV when signed in with the same account. Reopen the tab on another device if a change has not appeared yet.
Which parts are free and which need Pro?
Hiding and unhiding categories, and the show-hidden toggle, are free. Locking a category with a PIN and renaming a category are Pro features. Pro can be purchased on your phone and unlocks on every device signed in to the same account.
What happens if I forget my category PIN?
The PIN is stored with your profile, so you can set a new one from the same lock menu on a device where the categories are already unlocked for the session. Locked categories re-lock when the app restarts, so set a PIN you will remember.
Can I use this to keep adult categories off the family TV?
Yes, that is the main use. Lock the categories in question with a PIN so they require the code before they will open, and hide anything else you would rather not see listed at all. Both settings apply across every device on your account.
