Frequently asked questions
Everything you need to set up and use Lit IPTV. Steps differ slightly by device, so each answer is split by platform — Apple TV, Android TV / Fire TV, and iPhone / iPad / Mac.
Rows marked “🔒 PRO” need a Lit IPTV Pro subscription. A 7‑day free trial is available on every platform.
Getting started
What is Lit IPTV, and do I need a subscription to watch?
Lit IPTV is a video player for the IPTV service you already pay for. It does NOT include or sell any channels, movies or playlists. You bring your own login — either an Xtream Codes account (server URL + username + password) or an M3U/M3U8 playlist URL — from your IPTV provider, and Lit IPTV plays it with a clean interface, a TV guide, subtitles and more. Lit IPTV Pro (optional) unlocks extra features; your channels come from your provider either way.
How do I add my IPTV service (Xtream Codes login)?
Enter the Server URL, Username and Password your IPTV provider gave you. Always include http:// or https:// and the port — for example http://my-iptv.com:8080. Your username is usually a short code or number, not your email.
- On the login screen, fill in SERVER URL, USERNAME and PASSWORD.
- Leave Remember me on if you want the app to keep you signed in.
- Tap Sign In. (To add one later: Me → Sources → Manage Server / Playlist → Add server.)
- Sign in (or skip) until you reach the Xtream login form.
- Enter Server URL (with http/https and port), Username and Password.
- Select Connect. To add another later: Settings → Advanced → Add account.
- On the Sign in screen, tap Skip — continue without sync (or sign in first to sync across devices).
- On Connect your provider, use the on-screen keyboard to fill Server URL (http://host:port), Username and Password.
- Select Connect →.
If it says the connection failed, double‑check the http/https scheme and the port — a mismatch there is the most common cause. Some servers only work on https.
How do I add an M3U / M3U8 playlist instead?
Paste the direct URL to your .m3u or .m3u8 playlist (it must contain EXTINF tags). Your first playlist is free; adding a second one is a Pro feature.
- On the login screen tap Import M3U Playlist (or Me → Advanced Settings → Import M3U Playlist).
- Under PLAYLIST URL, paste the link; optionally set a PLAYLIST NAME.
- Tap Import Playlist.
- On the login screen choose the M3U playlist option.
- Paste the playlist URL and confirm.
- On the Xtream Login screen select Import M3U Playlist.
- Paste the direct .m3u / .m3u8 URL and select Import.
Servers & accounts
How do I add a second server and switch between them?
Keeping more than one server saved (and switching between them) is a Pro feature. Your Continue Watching stays synced; the channel list reloads for the new server.
- Go to Me → Sources → Switch Server or Playlist.
- Tap Add server to enter a new login, or tap a saved server and confirm Switch.
- Long‑press a server to Rename or Remove it.
- Go to Settings → Advanced → Add account to enter a new server.
- To switch, open Settings → Advanced and pick a saved account from the list.
- Go to Settings → Advanced → Advanced Settings → Xtream Accounts.
- Select Add account to add one, or select a Switch row to change servers.
If a new server doesn’t respond when you add it, that’s the provider — your current server stays active.
TV guide (EPG)
My TV guide (EPG) is empty or missing programmes — why?
The guide is built automatically from your provider’s EPG feed. It’s empty or patchy for one of these reasons: (1) your provider doesn’t publish an EPG at all; (2) your provider tags very few channels with an EPG id, so only those channels show programmes — this is by far the most common reason and it is a limitation of the provider’s data, not the app; (3) the guide simply hasn’t finished downloading yet. A Refresh usually helps; sparse data does not.
- Open Live TV → the calendar icon to see the guide.
- To force a reload: Me → Advanced Settings → EPG (Guide), then use Refresh now (on the Custom EPG URL screen) or pull‑to‑refresh in Live TV.
- Open the Live TV tab to see the guide.
- To rebuild it: Settings → Advanced → Reset guide. Switching servers now also reloads the guide automatically.
- Open Live TV and switch to the GUIDE view.
- To reload: Settings → Advanced Settings → EPG / Guide → Refresh guide now (or Maintenance → Reset TV guide).
Can I add my own EPG / XMLTV URL?
Yes — if your provider’s guide is thin you can point the app at your own XMLTV file (.xml or .xml.gz). This is a Pro feature. Channels are matched by their tvg-id / epg_channel_id, so a custom guide only fills channels whose ids match.
- Go to Me → Advanced Settings → EPG (Guide) → Enhanced EPG → Custom EPG URL.
- Enter the XMLTV URL and tap Save, then Refresh now.
- Go to Settings → Advanced → EPG and add your Custom EPG URL (Pro).
- The custom EPG URL is set in the mobile app — it then syncs to Apple TV automatically. There is no field to type it on the Apple TV itself.
Organising your channels
How do I hide, lock or rename categories?
Hiding a category is free. Locking one with a PIN (parental control) and renaming it are Pro features. The first time you lock anything you set a single 4‑digit PIN that’s reused after that.
- Quick way: long‑press a category → Hide category, Lock with PIN or Rename category.
- Bulk way: Me → Advanced Settings → Categories → Manage … categories, then flip each visibility switch (or use Show all / Hide all / Invert).
- Focus a category, then press the Menu button on your remote (or hold OK) to open Hide / Lock / Rename.
- A one‑time on‑screen hint points this out the first time you land on a category.
- Go to Settings → Advanced → Categories (Pro).
- For each row use the Shown/Hidden toggle, the padlock to lock, or the pencil to rename. Set a 4‑digit parental PIN at the top for locked categories.
How do I add favourites?
Favourites are free and sync to your account. They appear in a Favourites shelf on Home and as a Favourites filter inside Live TV, Movies and TV Shows.
- Long‑press a channel, movie or series → Add to Favourites, or tap the heart on its detail screen.
- Open a channel/title (or long‑press its card) and select the heart / Add to Favourites.
- Open a title and select Favorite, or long‑press a card and choose Add to Favourites.
Watching
How do I get subtitles (for example Turkish) on a movie?
Movies often ship with the original (built‑in) subtitle track only. Built‑in tracks and subtitle appearance are free. To download subtitles in another language, use the OpenSubtitles search inside the player — this needs Lit IPTV Pro and a free OpenSubtitles.com account. Setting a Preferred Language just pre‑selects it in the search; it does not auto‑download.
- Start the movie, open the subtitles menu, then Search Subtitles (OpenSubtitles) (Pro).
- Sign in to OpenSubtitles when asked, pick the language (e.g. Turkish), search and tap a result to download.
- Start the movie, open the subtitle button, then Search (Pro).
- Sign in to OpenSubtitles, set the language to Turkish, search and select a result.
- In the player open the captions button → Subtitles, then Search OpenSubtitles (Pro).
- Enter the title, pick a result; use −100 ms / +100 ms to sync if needed. Set a default under Settings → Subtitles → Preferred Language.
What is catch‑up / replay and how do I use it?
Catch‑up lets you replay programmes that have already aired, but only on channels whose provider offers an archive. It’s a Pro feature.
- Open Live TV → the calendar icon (guide). Channels with an archive show a Catch‑up label; use the Catch Up Channels Only filter.
- Tap a past (golden) programme to replay it. Resume later from the Continue Catch‑up shelf on Home.
- In the guide, past programmes on archive channels appear as replayable blocks — select one to watch from the start.
- Resume from the Continue Catch‑up row on Home.
- Open a channel’s detail screen and select the Catch‑up (clock) button, or in the GUIDE tap a past (gold) programme.
- In the replay player use −30m / +30m to widen the window.
