How to Install IPTV on Apple TV

What you need before you start

1. An Apple TV HD or Apple TV 4K running tvOS 17 or later, connected to the internet. 2. An Apple ID signed into the App Store on the Apple TV. 3. Your own IPTV playlist details: an M3U or M3U8 URL, or an Xtream Codes server address, username and password from your provider. 4. A phone or computer nearby for the one-time sign-in code. Remember that Lit IPTV is only the player, so the playlist comes from your provider.

Step 1: Install Lit IPTV from the App Store

On the Apple TV home screen open the App Store, choose Search, and type Lit IPTV. Select the app and press Get. It is free to install with full playback. The download takes a few seconds and the app appears on your home screen. If you have Lit IPTV on your iPhone already, the Apple TV listing may show as Get or as a cloud icon, because the tvOS app shares the same App Store record as the iPhone, iPad and Mac versions.

Step 2: Sign in with a code from your phone

Open Lit IPTV on the Apple TV. Instead of a keyboard it shows a short sign-in code. On your phone or computer go to litiptv.com/activate, sign in to your Lit IPTV account, or create one, and enter the code. The Apple TV links to your account immediately. If you have used Lit IPTV on another device, your playlists, favourites, custom lists and watch history sync across and you can skip the next step.

Step 3: Add your playlist

New account? Open Playlists and add a source. For an M3U or M3U8 playlist paste the URL. For Xtream Codes enter the server address, username and password exactly as your provider gave them. Lit IPTV downloads the catalogue and builds your library: live channels by category, movies and series with artwork, and a guide wherever the provider includes EPG data. Large playlists can take a minute on the first load, and later refreshes are quick because only changes are fetched.

Step 4: Open the guide and start watching

Go to Live TV and open the Guide. It lands on the current time, so you see what is on now. Move with the Siri Remote to browse channels and times, click to play, and press back to return. Gold blocks mark programmes you can replay through catch-up where your provider supports it. Favourite channels from the long-press menu so they sit at the top, and set a profile per household member so watch history stays separate.

Make it yours

From Settings you can hide, lock and reorder categories, set parental controls with a PIN, choose a preferred subtitle language, pick a player aspect ratio, and add a second playlist. Pro adds TMDB posters and cast across the library, catch-up playback, the stream quality checker and the themed For You rows. Subscribe once on any device and Pro unlocks on the Apple TV automatically.

Fixing common problems

1. The app is not in the App Store: check the Apple TV is on tvOS 17 or later under Settings, System, Software Updates, and that the App Store region matches your Apple ID. 2. The sign-in code expired: press back and forward again to generate a fresh one, then enter it within a few minutes. 3. Channels load but will not play: test the same channel on your phone; if it fails there too, the issue is with the stream or your provider. 4. No guide data: your provider must supply EPG in the playlist or through Xtream Codes; Lit IPTV can only show what it receives.
